Dream big while living small.
I hate cleaning. Loathe it. Will put it off for forever. I could do laundry or wash dishes until I am blue in the face, but cleaning…not so much. A couple days ago though, I decided to embrace my inner Mom of the Year and go for it. It went well. My son started rolling […]

This classic farmhouse plan enjoys a wrap-around porch (8'6" wide) that's perfect for enjoyment of the outdoors. To the rear of the house plan, a sun terrace with a spa opens from the master suite and the morning room. A grand great room offers a ceiling that slopes from 9' to 15' and a corner fireplace with a raised hearth. The formal dining room with 15' ceilings is defined by a low wall and by graceful archways set off by decorative columns. A secluded master suite nestles in its own wing and features a sitting area and ceilings that slope from 9' to 11'. Bedrooms 2 and 3 ceilings rise from 9' to 13' and the foyer is 18' high.
It's that time of year where the DIY projects start expanding to the great outdoors. You can see my post on How To Create The Perfect Outdoor Space {Here}. Today we are talking about curb appeal. I'm going to be honest, I rarely focus on the outside of our house. I have this handsome guy who lives with me that loves being outside and getting down in the dirt while doing projects outside. & I'm usually inside covered in paint & glue doing something messy creative. But once in a while I like to get outside with the hubs & make

This is a repeat Feature Friday, but so good this time of year. Enjoy Sweet Shady Lane all over again! This was originally published in 2018. ********************************************* Happy Friday friends! If you love New England, today's Feature Friday is influenced heavily by Nantucket style with nautical influences, which makes sense since she lives on a lake. Meet Heather with Sweet Shady Lane. I first saw her on Instagram, discovered she has a blog (which isn't really updated in awhile, she spends her time on Instagram), and I just love her style! If ever there was a style that I would want to emulate, it would be the vintage, classic style of Nantucket and New England. That style is my most favorite and I definitely have an affinity for classic and traditional mixed in this way. Lots of blue and white, antiques, vintage collectibles, just a beautiful way to live. I asked Heather if I could share her home with you and she agreed, so I'm so happy to feature her today. You will fall in love with her home, named Mona Bina, meaning Home for all.

With today's advances in technology and changes in the family dynamic, some homes need to be more than just after-work and weekend retreats. This crisp rambler typifies the multifunctional home. The floor plan serves on many different levels, beginning with ideal office and studio space for work-at-home professionals. The office, located off the gallery from the foyer, features double-door privacy, built-ins, and a next-door bath. For further separation and privacy, a studio is located next to a covered porch at the end of a family and game room wing. Entertaining space flows from the open foyer to the sunken living room and to the formal dining room. Built-ins, light and display shelves, and a fireplace are pleasing to behold. For informal needs, a family and game-room space flows off the kitchen and breakfast nook. The fun of a family gathering can quickly spread outdoors onto a covered porch off the game room, where a fireplace and space for a built-in barbecue grill await. A wing on the opposite side of the home caters to children. Three children's bedrooms surround an open play space, where toys can be contained and where children can conveniently watch a movie before bedtime. The master suite is down the hall and includes a massive walk-in closet, walk-in shower, and spa tub.
